The purple stands for the dark past of the country, and the dark lakes in the inland of the country. Purple is also a color symbolizing the music and culture of the country. The green stands for rebirth, the lighter greens promise a brighter future, and the forests of the country. The plant inspired pattern has always been a national symbol but was first added to the flag after the Democratic Zurjaian Republic (a terrible dictatorship that ruled the country for over a hundred years) was overthrown eight years ago. It symbolizes the different people groups, united as one and growing together.
